Power utility Eskom’s new chief executive officer, Tshediso Matona, will assume duty on 1 October 2014.

This is according to Public Enterprises minister, Lynne Brown, who said that Matsietsi Mokholo, the department’s current deputy director-general for legal and governance, was appointed Acting Director-General and Accounting Officer of the Department with effect from 1 September 2014.

Matona is the current director general of Public Enterprises and is a former DG of Trade and industry, between 2006 – 2010.

Former Eskom CEO, Brian Dames stepped down from the position at the end of March 2014, and was replaced by former National Energy Regulator of SA chairman, Collin Matjila, in an acting capacity.
